The Gouseion project was conceived of in 2006 when I was signed to the now defunct Run Riot Records. Up until that point I had been producing hip hop and experimental electronic music. With the new project I wanted to refine my earlier efforts and bring IDM weirdness to pop rap production (maybe most obviously in my mixtape series) following similar efforts of other, far more famous & talented, west coast practitioners who were my inspiration. What followed was me fumbling around trying to find my own sound with lots of help from labelmates and friends. As evidenced by my wide-ranging discography and equally far-flung experiments with production techniques I don’t know that I ever really found that sound, but I just keep making things because I truly enjoy it.
